Craig Wright can’t name a single person who got BTC gifts from Satoshi

Craig Wright discussed his relationship with trusts that have allegedly held Satoshi Nakamoto’s bitcoin. On Tuesday, despite claiming that he sent bitcoin to hundreds of people from 2009-2011 , Wright couldn’t recall a single name. Wright denied that Satoshi supported calling bitcoin a ‘cryptocurrency,’ despite considerable opposing evidence. The Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) comprises pro-Bitcoin companies led by executives like Jack Dorsey, Michael Saylor, Brian Armstrong, Jesse Powell, and many other wealthy Bitcoiners. It is suing Craig Wright in the British High Court of Justice. Wright believes — or at least claims — that he is Satoshi. After he joined Bitcoin fork BSV, he began suing Bitcoin influencers around the world with UK courts quickly becoming his favorite venue due to their lower burdens of proof and plaintiff-friendly norms for attorney fees. However, COPA members have had enough. In this month’s lawsuit — the most impor...

Ripple’s chief legal officer slams SEC chief Gensler as a movie villain

While the dust is still settling after Ripple’s several major victories in the court case against the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the blockchain company’s chief legal officer , Stuart Alderoty, criticized the regulator and compared its chairman to a movie villain . As it happens, Alderoty pointed out all the ways in which the SEC was doing a poor job, comparing Gary Gensler to Colonel Nathan R. Jessup from a 1989 stage play and 1992 hit movie A Few Good Men, who became a symbol of institutional indoctrination, in an X post on November 16. The SEC is losing in court; being criticized by Judges for shady behavior; being rebuked by the Gov’t’s internal auditor; hiding info about meetings with a felon; becoming irrelevant on the international stage. Gensler – admitting no fault – has become the insulate Col. Jessep. pic.twitter.com/vqjPPcifr8 — Stuart Alderoty (@s_alderoty) November 16, 2023 Furthermore, the legal expert scorned the S...

Ripple v. SEC legal feud: No quick resolution in sight

After Ripple’s massive win in the case against the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), in which the agency dropped the charges against the blockchain company’s top executives, the cryptocurrency community is waiting to see the results of the final settlement. Indeed, as legal expert John E. Deaton said earlier, the SEC now “wants $770M worth of flesh” over its embarrassment. However, another popular commentator on the case, lawyer Bill Morgan has explained why settling will not be as simple as just writing a check, as he detailed in an X thread on October 26. Remedies heating up Specifically, Morgan believes that the remedies phase, in this case, would “heat up, not settle,” as he shared the arguments from the letters that each of the parties had earlier sent to the court regarding the SEC’s (now blocked) motion seeking an interlocutory appeal. As it happens, according to the SEC’s letter, the agency had claimed that the remedies phase of the proceedings would...

Bitcoin price eyes $28K as Binance legal battle spurs bullish momentum

Discover how margin and option metrics hint at Bitcoin's path to $28,000 amid the Binance legal battle. The ongoing legal battle between the Binance cryptocurrency exchange and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) took a surprising turn on Sep. 18. Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui rejected the SEC's request for access to Binance.US's systems. Instead, the Federal Magistrate suggested that the SEC should formulate specific discovery requests. While this decision only temporarily postponed the need for Binance to demonstrate the separation between Binance.US's custody solution and Binance International, the market responded positively. Bitcoin (BTC) surged to its highest level in three weeks, breaking above the $27,000 resistance. Traders are now wondering whether the rally has been supported by leverage or genuine spot buying demand. This is where metrics related to Bitcoin derivatives could potentially provide the solution. Investors must wait three weeks ...

Deaton: SEC Illegal Expansion Can Make Grocery Oranges Securities

Pro-XRP lawyer accuses the SEC of unconstitutional expansion in the crypto market. He supported his argument with historical facts and legislative actions. Lawyer says SEC’s regulatory approach could classify everyday items as securities. In a recent tweet, John Deaton, a prominent lawyer advocating for XRP, raised concerns over the alleged unconstitutional overreach of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Deaton specifically addressed a claim by Paul Grewal, Coinbase’s Chief Legal Officer, about the SEC violating the law. To support his argument, Deaton presented historical facts and legislative actions that suggest the SEC’s overreach. Is @iampaulgrewal engaging in hyperbole by claiming the SEC is violating the law? LET’S REVIEW A FEW FACTS: 1) up until 2018, the SEC had no policy whatsoever regarding SEC staff owning Crypto because these digital assets were a new asset class and the SEC was unsure about it; https://t.co/9UU4j...
